Q. I need to raise my outdoor a/c unit about 3" secondary to grading problems. How do I go about doing that? |

A. Hi Dan,
While the basics of lifting an outdoor AC unit seem straightforward, there is a special consideration concerning R-22, the refrigerant that is likely used in your system. An R-22 "spill" can be dangerous for you and your family and can even lead to extensive fines by your city or township. Therefore, I suggest calling in an HVAC expert to disconnect and move the unit. Then, you can erect a simple concrete slab, let it dry thoroughly, and have the HVAC professional back to move and restart the unit.
